Property code: OC-GD1856

Located in the picturesque Scottish Borders, just 2 miles from the English border as the crow flies, this converted two-bedroom barn is ideal for friends and families keen for a restorative break in Scotland. It’s just 4.5 miles from the historic market town of Kelso, where the rivers Tweed and Teviot meet – wonderful for easy riverside walks and meals out. For excellent hiking and exploration your pets will love, pop over the border to explore the wilderness of Northumberland National Park (13.5 miles). The coastal town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (20.5 miles) is wonderful for a day out by the sea.

This single-storey cottage features a fresh and bright interior, with fabulous views from every window. Gorgeous exposed stone walls and wood beams create an elegant look, while stable-style doors and wooden furniture contribute to an attractive rustic decor. The wide hemmel arch window in the main living area nods to the building’s origins as a working barn.

Downstairs, relax in the open-plan lounge/diner, which has a wood burner for keeping cosy and a rosewood dining table with space for all four of you. French doors from here open onto the patio. The kitchen has everything you need to create yummy dinners for four, and the large glass doors provide access to the patio, along with gorgeous views of Cliftonhill Farm. The two tranquil bedrooms both have soothing colour schemes with pops of vibrance. A good-sized bathroom completes the property.

Outside, you’ll have a sheltered south-facing patio for enjoying fresh-air feasts, perhaps sizzling up a BBQ on balmy evenings. As you flip burgers, be sure to lap up the panoramic views over the surrounding Borders countryside, including the Cheviot Hills in the distance.
